Abstract
Deviation, also termed foregrounding, is one of the most important concepts in stylistics. Because it deviates from normal language, it has a lot to do with translation, which in a sense centers around deviation.
Deviation in lexical meaning is a common phenomenon in translation. The linguistic and cultural differences often result in the meaning deciations due to the constraints of category and language. In the specific texts, there are also context constrained deviations in referential meaning, derogatory meaning, commendatory meaning, and emotional meaning.

1. Introduction
Translation plays an important role in international communication, especially in the hi-tech and information era. The process of translation is not only the pure process of information transformation between two different languages, but also that of the process of compromising and transforming the comprehensive informations which are influenced by culture, history, tradition, ideology and so forth. As a result, there might not existing reciprocity of meaning in translation. In addition, when the writer is trying to construct the words that are need to be translated, he should bring all the positive factors of congition into paly, such as synthesize social psychology, social and political psychology and national psychology and so on. However, what he says usually embody national prejudice, political prejudice and distortions of ideology. Because of the differences between writer¡¯s and translator¡¯s culture and social cognition, it easily occurs deviation in meaning. When the translator is making the choic among the available words, in fact, he is in the process of comprehending the original text and recoding it interfered in personal practice and experience and social cognition.
Approaching it from the transforming linguistic form, translation itself is the total deviation of source language system. In view of the characteristic and law of translation, deviation in lexical meaning is refering to the anticipated words in the form of surface, potential, or even not appeared in target language.
In fact, as the result of the differences between the language structure and cultual background and the capacity for the readers of target language, deviation in translation is unavoidable, sometimes it is essential. While if deviation in translation exceeds the certain degree and causes misunderstanding, it is harmful.
